Understand staff approval in ChairNav
How review-first works for AI drafts, automations, and anything patient-facing.
Last updated May 15, 2026
ChairNav is review-first by design. Anything that affects a patient — a message, a recall outreach, a claim packet narrative — is created as a draft for a real person to approve.
What requires approval
- AI message replies and patient-facing drafts.
- Recall outreach drafts.
- Claim packet narratives before submission to a payer.
- Insurance benefit summaries before they are shared with a patient.
- Treatment explainers before they are emailed or printed.
Automation defaults
New automation rules default to requires_staff_approval = true. For triggers tagged urgent or clinical, approval cannot be turned off.
